ADR Driver Training
ADR is the carriage of dangerous goods by road within Europe and anyone wanting to do so is required by law to obtain a Vocational Training Certificate administered by the Scottish Qualifications Authority. The qualification lasts for 5 years and must then be renewed by refresher training no later than 4 weeks before the expiry date.
Here at 1st class solutions we have recently refurbished our facilities to provide a modern, air conditioned training suite with surround sound and wireless access. Capable of seating up to 16 students allowing for a relaxed and friendly environment in which to train and learn.
The ADR driver course is based around a series of modules:
Core - this gives a basic overview of dangerous goods - what they are, loading & unloading, security of loads, how they can react etc. Other topics covered include BASIC first aid, fire fighting and emergency procedures.
Tanks - covers the carriage of dangerous goods in road tanks and tank containers.
Packages - covers the carriage of dangerous goods in packages apart from explosives or radioactives.
Classes - covering the seven main UN danger classes - Class 2 (Gases) Class 3 (Flammable liquids) Class 4 (Flammable solids) Class 5 (Oxidising) Class 6 (Toxics) Class 8 (Corrosives) & Class 9 (Miscellaneous)
To gain the qualification a driver must pass the CORE module, either TANKS or PACKAGES module and 1 of the CLASSES.
Radioactives & Explosives- To obtain either of these a driver is required to take the CORE module but does not need to take the PACKAGES module. Class 1 (Explosives) and class 7 (Radioactives) each take 1 day to complete.
